The Process.
The design process doesn't have to be complicated! Here you will find a quick guide of how it all works.
brief stage
To begin a project we would ideally need a design brief and an initial meeting to talk through the brief on a personal basis. If you have little experience in writing briefs, we are happy to assist you in producing one. The general information required is:
- What do you want to produce?
- Who is it aimed at?
- Where is it going to be positioned / placed / delivered?
- What quantity do you have in mind?
- What is your budget? (Optional)
- When is your delivery deadline?
At this stage we will offer verbal solutions that we think are appropriate. In addition, an indication of costs may be discussed to establish that we are within any budget limits you may have.
quote stage
When we submit a quotation, we feel it is important to give a detailed breakdown of each stage of the project. We will include a recommended timetable to meet deadlines. Often we will outline costs for various options of producing your required material, and will provide samples when relevant. We are keen to make sure that you are aware of all possibilities and will use our experience to guide your decisions. In this way, we believe we can maximize the potential for your project.
We find that we are able to consistently impress our potential clients with our high standards of work and service and are therefore confident you will choose us to undertake your project. We find that many clients prefer to work on a fixed price basis, where we include an allowance for amendments within the quotation. We do not like to surprise our clients with extra hidden costs! Work undertaken at our hourly rate is currently charged at £60 per hour.
visual stage
If you are happy with our quotation, we will proceed with the production of our initial ideas – and depending on your response we will either proceed to develop them further or start again with a different approach. When the ideas are developed to a mock up stage, we will present them. This can be done either at a meeting, through e-mail, post or via our test server if the project is internet-based.
Fixed price quotations usually allow for up to four amendment stages, and after each amendment the work will be re-submitted for approval. When you are 100% satisfied with the design we will request sign-off and proceed to production.
production stage
This stage varies dependent upon the nature of the project but generally if the project is print based, we would supply a final printer's proof for sign-off. If the project were Internet based we would check that the work produced was compatible with relevant browsers, and perform basic search engine optimisation.
