Distraction selected to develop interactive touch screen exhibit

Sample of Gilberts Garden

26 October 2009

Design by Distraction have been selected to develop an interactive touch screen exhibit for the new learning venue at St Katherine's Heritage Project, Lincoln after a competitive tendering process.

St Katherine's - 900 years of history is an exciting new heritage and learning venue planned to open towards the end of 2009. It will be housed in a fully restored Victorian Wesleyan church which stands on the site of the medieval priory of St Katherine's.

The new touch screen interactive, entitled "Gilbert's Garden", will focus on the monastic garden which would have played an important role in daily life for medicinal, culinary and other uses. The touch screen will complement the exhibits on display and provide a series of creative and informative learning opportunities inspired by the activities that took place on site.

Touch screens are an ideal way of delivering extra information and enhancing existing exhibitions. They can be used in a range of venues from schools to shopping centres - not just museums!

Design by Distraction have previously worked with St Katherine's to produce a series of online games entitled "Shape and Symmetry", which can be played on the website, www.stkatherineslincoln.co.uk
